Ummmm... don't worry about dating. Worry about fixing that massive hole that got left in your heart when your long-time girlfriend stabbed you in the back.

What you need are family, friends, and other things that make you feel awesome about yourself, and all of which have _nothing_ to do with her. It's rough, especially when the relationship has lasted many years. I'm still not _fully_ over my first girlfriend, who I dated for four years. But I was able to have another girlfriend after her and I'm back to pursuing others again. That's good enough for me right now.

If you get into another relationship and find that there are trust/intimacy issues from your end, _see a therapist_. That's a sign that the scars that have been left run much deeper and you might need professional help. Don't lose the next girl you love over a fucking bitch who betrayed you.

Web development isn't just throwing something together in FrontPage. Consider the technology behind Google or Facebook. You don't consider that software?

I agree on equipment costs. Yes, you can get by with a lesser computer for a long time if you are using Ubuntu, vi, mysql, and apache. If you're running Windows 7, Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008, and IIS you're going to need some more power and you're probably going to need even more in a couple years. But that shouldn't be part of what you bill your customers. If you "need" a diamond keyboard and like to sit on a golden pony, you shouldn't pass that cost on to your customers.

There is nothing inherently wrong about "naked" selling as long as its enforced.

In 2006, there were 10% FTD on NYSE and 9% FTD on NASDAQ. This totals about 1.4B shares that weren't delivered. Now, no one is claiming that *all* of these are the result of fraud - there could've been legitimate reasons. However, you don't think those numbers are somewhat glaring? Worthy of investigation?

Moreover some of the specific company have incredible FTD rates with respect to their daily average volume and total outstanding shares. A brief list includes:

Share Avg Vol Total Outstanding Peak Day FTD

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    NFI 409K 6.3M 3.2M

    OSTK 900K 20M 3.8M

    NFLX 2.5M 52M 5M

Doesn't some of these numbers seem odd? I mean 50% of the total outstanding shares were "failed to deliver" for NFI in a single day?

Some of the companies have been on these "watchlist" for months.

you're missing the point. on purpose, i suspect. you are engaging in exactly behavior that anyone would (rightly) call small-minded in many other contexts. because it is what you believe in, however, you can write it off with a quip. "you aren't oppressed, so i am justified in making ignorant comments."

but you're right about everything always anyway, eh? you know all about everybody and their motivations for being anything, and anyone who disagrees with your political bent must be a fundie teabagger. right?

maybe you could pass on some more of your wisdom to me. what other groups do you know all about, and can give me great insight into their constituents' motivations?

I have been thinking about this. Could you modify ratings based on the ratings of other people like you? Sort of a netflix rating based on the content (and comments?) that you up and downvote. All you would need (naively) is an enormous nxm array of content and users, with correlations between all of them.

I think you couldn't have rankings based entirely on the ratings of people like you, because then you wouldn't see new things, and the content would likely become boring, but you could have a slider determining how important the 'like me' community score is relative to the regular score.

Cheney's buddies are JINSA, not Enron or Haliburton. Your argument basically states that Iran is dangerous because oil will allow them to grow economically, which then brings us back to the original statement.

Fact of the matter is that oil companies dont give a fuck. Why? Oil demand is extremely inelastic. Prices are set by OPEC. This all means that the government, folks like Cheney might care, but oil companies do not. That being said people in power change and makes such an objective pointless due to time restrictions.

There has been an abnormally large amount of crime at my college, which is in the middle of a city next to some of the poorest districts.

Meanwhile, my college itself has had its largest freshmen classes 2 years in a row (I guess state tuition and their deals with local high schools may be a big draw).

I live with my parents and pay them a modest rent (much less than for an actual apartment, obviously). I have 2 Bachelor's degrees (English and Biology) but I still spent 6-7 months trying to find a job last year-- I even tried being a freelance SEO writer, and at one point started a blog and made about $12 a month from ads every other month, yay. Finally got work with an environmental engineering office and I work part-time for them as an "engineering technician"/administrative assistant (hint: I use Excel a lot).

The silver lining is that a) I actually have a job and b) I spent all my downtime on my job search researching exercise/food and I've lost 55lbs in a little under a year (still fat but much stronger and feeling okay...well except for the neck injury I gave myself this morning when I tried a new exercise).

Currently hiding in grad school until I can find a long-term opportunity for doing something in my desired field(s). Or just for something that doesn't seem drop-dead boring.

What sort of PC do you have? If it's a desktop you may be able to upgrade it to play a few games. Perhaps not newer games, but there are plenty of games that are good from between 5 and 10 years ago.

Since you haven't played games for 10 years, maybe a PS2 would be a better idea, since it's a lot cheaper than a modern console, and there are tonnes of great games for it, and the graphics are still decent. In fact, I'd argue that a lot of PS2 games and slightly older PC games are quite superior to most modern games in a lot of ways.

You could always get a PS2 in addition to your modern console, since they can be acquired for less than a hundred bucks.
